This was such a fun card to make. The majority of this card, with the only exception being the shading on the vase, was done with embossing powder. Using the flower from Altenew Stunning Cosmos, the flower is stamped with Versamark and covered with the lighter pink embossing powder (Melon Mambo), heat embossed; then the center is stamped with Versamark and covered with the yellow (Pineapple Punch) and heat embossed. The final darker pink (Lovely Lipstick) was applied after stamping with Veramark and was heat embossed. The look is amazing. I believe this is the first time I have used heat embossing for multi-layer stamping, and I am hooked! The stems are created with Wild Wasabi embossing powder.

The shading on the vase is done with the Copic grey markers. Instead of using the Copics on the back of the Velum, which I have done in the past but found it to be a little streaky and tricky, I stamped the vase on a piece of Neehah white card stock and colored the vase with the markers. The vase was then fussy cut and glued to the back of the velum. The velum vase was stamped with Versamark and heat embossed in black embossing powder. Look closely, you will see the flower stamp comes out of the vase as though the top of the vase is open and 3-D. Make a slit in the Velum with an exacto knife for the flower stem. It’s the little details like this that make a difference. Someone looking at the card may not pick up on this right away, but if the flower does not come out of the vase like this the eye will see it as wrong right away. The highlights are made with a white chalk marker.

Another really fun part of this card is the spatter. Did you know that water will hold embossing powder? Once the embossing powder is heated it becomes permanent on the card stock. Who knew?? Instant shiny spatter!
I glued the flower that is lying down to the card front. I attached the vase and flower with foam tape. The “happy” is embossed in black embossing powder. The birthday is embossed in white embossing power on gray card stock. The embellishments are glued on. The flower panel is attached to the card base with foam tape. Now the card is compete and ready to be mailed.
I hope you enjoyed this card and it encourages your to use your heat embossing more. Thanks for visiting…
