Here’s my thoughts on mushrooms: on my food? No, thank you! On a card? Yes, oh yes, all day long! I don’t know what it is about mushrooms on a card: they are just fun. I received the Altenew “Love You So Mush” stamp set a day or two prior to making this card. The challenge for todays project was to use stencils to create a card. When I decided to use the Altenew “Halftone Stencil” for this challenge, I knew the mushrooms needed to be a focus for the card. The spotted mushrooms help pull the theme of the circles together.

Using a blending tool, I blended the Altenew “Minty Mint” Crisp Ink onto a piece of white card stock. I used the Altenew “Halftone Stencil” and a blending tool to create the diagonal pattern for the card front. I started over the larger dots on the stencil with the darker Altenew “Hunter Green” Crisp ink. As I moved down the diagonal to the smaller dots I also lightened the ink colors moving from Altenew’s “Hunter Green” to “Just Green” to “Sweet Leaf”. The background behind the mushrooms is done in the same pattern. White card stock is covered with “Citrus Burst” and the “Halftone Stencil” and “”Honey Drizzle” Crisp ink are used to blend the darker yellow dot pattern on the background. The circle dies are used to create the window for the mushroom.

The green panel is raised with foam tape, two of the mushrooms are also raised. Lastly, the sentiment is inked and raised up, with “Mush” embossed in white.

The “fun” spirit of this card makes it so versatile. Find someone you love, write the appropriate phrase inside, ie thanks!, happy birthday! or even just because, and you have a winner! I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I do. Have fun with the stencils and playful stamps and you have and create something wonderful!
